FSNet News #22 -- April 19, 2001

Wells Fargo College Associates Program (CAP)

In the previous issue of FSNet NEWS we described the Financial Services FutureCareers Expo and promised to share information about some of the great programs and resources available to students and teachers involved with School-to-Career.

Wells Fargo, a sponsor of the Expo, has a fantastic program for graduating seniors--the Wells Fargo College Associates Program (CAP). CAP provides college bound high school graduates with an opportunity to explore their professional future with one of the most dynamic financial institutions in the country. By being a part of the CAP Program, students will have an opportunity to gain knowledge and skills in a corporate setting, obtain in-depth exposure to the financial services industry and increase their marketability upon graduation. In addition to competitive compensation, Wells Fargo offers an educational stipend that pays up to $5,000 annually for college courses related to their degree requirements.

CAP begins in June and includes six to eight weeks of training seminars including Bank Products, Business Etiquette, Problem Solving on the Job, Goal Setting and other topics that help students gain insight to Wells Fargo. After successfully completing the summer training program, students will continue to work a part-time schedule that coordinates with their college class schedule.

Job areas include but are not limited to Community Banking, Credit, Internet Customer Service, Information Services, Deposit Services, and Administrative Services. Job duties may include researching and verifying information, working with customers and providing administrative support.

To qualify applicants must:

  • Graduate from high school in May or June of 2001
  • Have been accepted to an accredited post secondary institution near the job location
  • Plan to work a minimum of 17.5 hours per week while in college
  • Have demonstrated leadership skills
  • Have a strong interest in pursuing business as a career

This is a wonderful opportunity for your graduating seniors, but the application deadline is rapidly approaching. If you are interested at BaySCAN.
