Employers and Community Organizations: Click here to participate. California School-to-Career introduces the first annual California Intern Summer, beginning with the summer of 2000. The goal is to create thousands of internship opportunities for California students and teachers to experience the workplace first-hand and apply classroom learning to the real world. Today's economy is changing at a rapid pace. And, with the advancement of technology and the skills employees need to compete for thousands of new high growth jobs, schools are struggling to keep up. Thus, a key activity of School-to-Career is work-based learning -- opportunities in the workplace that help students build the skills and knowledge for success. Starting with the summer of 2000, California Intern Summer will engage thousands of employers and community members to join with Local School-to-Career Partnerships and schools to create and sustain work-based learning opportunities for students and teachers. California Intern Summer 2000 will be promoted through established network television partnerships, as well as web-based and other media outlets across the state. Your local community is actively seeking your support to make these opportunities a reality. Together we can generate the ground swell of community support needed to advance School-to-Career and the opportunities this initiative presents for California students and teachers. School-to-Career and California Intern Summer 2000 will better prepare California's youth for the 21st Century. For more information or to pledge support for California Intern Summer 2000, contact:
